Dr Julian Stern is a Psychoanalyst, and a Visiting Lecturer \u00a0at the Tavistock Centre in London, UK, having worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy , until 2021 , and as the Director of Adult and Forensic Services in the same organisation.<\/p>\n

Julian trained in Psychiatry and Adult Psychotherapy at the Maudsley Hospital in London. before moving to the Tavistock Centre in 2010. Before moving to the Tavistock Centre in 2010, he worked for 17 years as Head of the Psychological Medicine Unit at St Mark\u2019s Hospital, a highly specialised hospital for patients with gastrointestinal disorders.<\/p>\n

Julian is passionate about integrating psychological and medical understanding and practice, as well as making psychoanalytic and systemically informed treatments available to \u201cdifficult to reach\u201d patients and families.<\/p>\n

Julian has published widely in Psychiatric, Psychotherapy and Gastroenterology journals, teaches and supervises internationally, and has co-edited 2 textbooks: \u201cCore Psychiatry\u201d (Wright ,Stern and Phelan) and more recently \u201cFunctional GI disorders: a biopsychosocial approach\u201d (Knowles, Stern and Hebbard).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
